Amelie 16 years old, a high school student clearly feels a difference between men and women. For her it is rather a difference in appreciation.

For me, there is a difference between men and women. At school during gym class, for example, the boys get a 10 while we get an 8 at the most. However, we have to run as long as the boys, but the differences in the body and muscles make that we can’t run as many laps as they can.

Among friends, boys think they are better than the rest and smarter and cooler, but that’s not true at all. They also think they have more rights and they get more appreciation than girls. In general, boys are also punished less easily than girls. They are not ‘being judged’ as much, for example, if they speak boldly.

If a boy has a lot of sweethearts, it doesn’t matter. If a girl does, she’s a whore. Everybody sees it like that, even the girls think so.

The appreciation of the work remain uneven.

When a woman achieves something it’s often like “wow she can do it!”. Whereas it’s considered normal for a man to have a career.

In general, I don’t think that a woman has fewer chances than a man but the odds are just lower.

I believe the difference is always going to stay that way, but it is going to evolve to the right side.

I do not feel that I myself can do much to change inequality. But if we all stand up for ourselves we are going in the right direction
